The BT‑100 Bias‑Tee Power Amplifier is a wideband TX amplifier designed specifically for the bladeRF 2.0 micro and classic bladeRF xA4/xA5/xA9 SDR platforms. Featuring a Mini‑Circuits PHA‑1H+ MMIC, it delivers clean gain from 50MHz to 6GHz, ideal as an intermediary or final stage in your transmit chain for lab, field, and RF development work.
Powered directly through the bladeRF’s RF SMA ports via integrated bias‑tee circuitry, the BT‑100 requires no extra cabling for DC injection. Power is fully software‑controllable using de>bladeRF-cli or applications built on de>libbladeRF, giving you flexible control over when and how the amplifier is engaged. A bright status LED indicates when the PA is active, making it easy to confirm at a glance.
Key Features
- Frequency range: 50MHz – 6GHz wideband MMIC amplifier
- MMIC: Mini‑Circuits PHA‑1H+ for low noise and high linearity
- Typical gain: ≈ +15.6dB @ 200MHz, ≈ +10.7dB @ 2.4GHz
- Power consumption: ~200mW via bias‑tee from bladeRF
- Indicators: On‑board LED shows when the PA is enabled
- Form factor: Compact in‑line module for bladeRF TX ports (TX‑only)
- Compliance: NDAA compliant design
Compatibility
- SDR devices: bladeRF xA4, bladeRF xA5, bladeRF xA9, bladeRF 2.0 micro (all four RF ports are bias‑tee capable)
- Accessories: Works with the bladeRF Micro Enclosure and external DC power supply (recommended when using multiple BT‑100s)
Control & Usage
- Enable PA via CLI: de>set biastee tx on
- Disable PA via CLI: de>set biastee tx off
- Check power budget: de>print hardware in de>bladeRF-cli
- GNU Radio: add de>biastee=tx to de>gr-osmosdr sink blocks to switch the PA on from within flowgraphs
Because the BT‑100 draws its current from the bladeRF’s bias‑tee supply, care should be taken when powering the SDR solely from USB, especially if using multiple bias‑tee modules. For higher power budgets and maximum TX linearity, an external DC supply for the bladeRF is recommended. Note that the BT‑100 is intended for TX ports only.
