Portable RFID Reader, Writer and Emulator
The iCopy-XS combines an integrated RFID system, color screen, physical navigation controls, internal storage, rechargeable battery, and built-in antennas. Common operations can be performed directly from the device without connecting external antennas or carrying a computer.
For advanced analysis, the device can also be connected to a compatible computer through USB-C and used with supported Proxmark client tools.
Low- and High-Frequency RFID Support
The device is designed to work with selected low-frequency and high-frequency RFID technologies, including common access-control cards, key fobs, animal-identification tags, NFC tags, and compatible rewritable test credentials.
- Low frequency: 125kHz and 134kHz
- High frequency: 13.56MHz
- Selected ISO14443A and ISO14443B technologies
- Selected ISO15693 technologies
- Selected MIFARE, NTAG, iCLASS, EM, HID Prox, Indala, T5577, FDX-B, and related formats
Actual compatibility depends on the credential type, security configuration, firmware version, blank tag used, and reader implementation.
Automatic Identification and Copying Workflow
The handheld interface can automatically inspect a supported credential, identify its frequency and technology, read available data, and guide the user through writing an authorized copy to a compatible genuine iCopy-X blank tag.
Previously captured credentials can be stored in the device’s internal memory for later analysis, export, authorized emulation, or creation of additional test copies.
Reading, Scanning and Data Management
- Scan supported credentials to identify their frequency, technology, and UID
- Read available sectors, blocks, and tag information
- Store supported credential dumps in internal memory
- Import and export supported dumps and key files
- Maintain expandable key dictionaries for authorized research
- Write data to compatible genuine iCopy-X blank tags
RFID Emulation
The iCopy-XS can emulate selected low- and high-frequency credentials directly from the handheld device. This allows researchers and security professionals to test reader compatibility, verify access-control configurations, and conduct authorized penetration-testing exercises without repeatedly preparing physical tags.
Traffic Capture and Security Research
Supported MIFARE Classic research functions include capturing authentication exchanges and testing recovered keys in authorized environments. These capabilities are useful for evaluating legacy RFID security, demonstrating protocol weaknesses, and validating access-control migrations.
Proxmark Mode for Advanced Users
When connected through USB-C, advanced users can access the integrated Proxmark3 platform using compatible client software. This provides additional commands for signal analysis, protocol identification, demodulation, sniffing, emulation, and RFID development beyond the simplified standalone interface.
