The RFID Field Detector is a compact, passive testing tool that identifies the presence of 125kHz low-frequency RFID fields and 13.56MHz high-frequency RFID or NFC fields. Its small keychain-style design makes it convenient for access-control surveys, RFID development, equipment troubleshooting, and contactless technology education.
No batteries, charging, applications, or configuration are required. Hold the detector close to an active RFID reader and the corresponding LED will illuminate when a supported electromagnetic field is detected.
Detect 125kHz and 13.56MHz RFID Readers
The detector includes separate sensing circuits for the two frequency ranges commonly used by access-control readers and contactless systems:
- 125kHz low-frequency RFID
- 13.56MHz high-frequency RFID and NFC
The illuminated indicator helps identify which supported frequency range the nearby reader is producing. If a device generates fields at both supported frequencies, both indicators may respond.
Completely Passive Operation
The RFID Field Detector obtains the small amount of energy it needs directly from the electromagnetic field produced by an active RFID reader. It does not contain a battery and does not require an external power source.
This passive design keeps the detector ready for immediate use without charging, maintenance, firmware updates, or power controls.
Simple LED Field Indication
When placed near an active reader, the detector provides an immediate visual indication of the detected frequency band. This makes it useful for quickly determining whether an unidentified access-control reader operates at 125kHz or 13.56MHz.
The LED response can also help with basic reader-position testing by showing where a supported RFID field can be detected. Detection distance and LED intensity depend on the reader power, antenna design, field orientation, and surrounding materials.
Compact Keychain Design
The small and lightweight format allows the detector to be attached to a keyring, stored in an RFID tool kit, or carried during authorized physical security assessments. Its straightforward operation makes it suitable for both experienced RFID professionals and users learning about contactless systems.

Detector Only—Not an RFID Reader
This product detects the electromagnetic field generated by a compatible RFID reader. It does not read card data, display a UID, copy credentials, emulate tags, or identify the exact RFID protocol being used.
For card reading, writing, analysis, or emulation, a compatible RFID research device such as the Chameleon Ultra or Proxmark3 is required.
Important Compatibility Notice
This dual-frequency version is intended for 125kHz LF and 13.56MHz HF/NFC fields. It does not detect UHF RFID systems operating in frequency ranges such as 860–960MHz.
Detection performance varies according to reader output power, antenna placement, detector orientation, distance, and environmental interference. For the strongest response, move and rotate the detector slowly near the reader surface.
Responsible Use Notice
The RFID Field Detector is intended for development, troubleshooting, education, and authorized security assessments. Use it responsibly and obtain permission before testing access-control equipment that you do not own.
