Description

The Red Pitaya STEMlab Logic Analyzer Basic IZD0014 is an 8-channel digital signal analysis solution designed for debugging embedded electronics, monitoring GPIO signals, and decoding common serial communication buses. Used with a compatible Red Pitaya STEMlab 125-10, it turns the platform into a browser-controlled logic analyzer for electronics development, education, prototyping, and troubleshooting.

The Basic configuration provides up to 12MS/s sampling, a maximum input frequency of 3MHz, 3.3V digital input support, and decoding for I2C, SPI, and UART protocols.

Important Compatibility Information

The Logic Analyzer Basic configuration uses the GPIO expansion connector of a compatible Red Pitaya STEMlab board directly and is specified for use with the STEMlab 125-10.

This is not the Red Pitaya Logic Analyzer PRO extension module. The PRO version adds higher performance, wider input-voltage support, and integrated input protection.

A compatible STEMlab board is required for operation and should be purchased separately unless explicitly stated as included in the selected package.

8-Channel Digital Signal Analysis

The Logic Analyzer Basic can capture up to eight digital channels simultaneously, allowing developers to inspect logic states and timing relationships between multiple signals.

It is suitable for examining microcontroller GPIO outputs, digital control signals, serial buses, development boards, sensors, and other 3.3V digital electronics.

I2C, SPI and UART Protocol Decoding

Integrated protocol decoding simplifies debugging by converting captured digital signals into readable bus data. Supported protocols include:

  • I2C
  • SPI
  • UART

Decoded information can be displayed directly alongside the captured signals, helping users identify timing errors, incorrect commands, communication failures, and unexpected data.

Up to 12MS/s Sampling

The Basic Logic Analyzer supports sampling rates up to 12MS/s with a maximum specified input frequency of 3MHz. This provides enough performance for many common embedded-development and low-speed digital communication applications.

Web-Based Logic Analyzer Interface

The Red Pitaya Logic Analyzer application is browser based, so no dedicated desktop application is required for normal operation. The graphical interface can be accessed through a compatible web browser from a computer, tablet, or smartphone connected to the Red Pitaya.

This makes the platform convenient for laboratory, classroom, workshop, and remote-development environments.

Flexible Triggering

Trigger controls help capture specific digital events instead of continuously recording unwanted data. Supported trigger functions include:

  • Level triggering
  • Edge triggering
  • Pattern triggering

This is useful for isolating communication events, detecting state changes, and investigating intermittent digital faults.

1 Million Sample Memory Depth

The Logic Analyzer Basic offers a typical memory depth of approximately 1 million samples, allowing longer sections of digital activity to be captured and reviewed after acquisition.

Measurement Cursors and Data Analysis

On-screen cursors can be used to examine timing relationships between digital events. Users can measure relative timing from the trigger point and calculate the time difference between selected positions in the captured waveform.

Decoded bus information can also be viewed in multiple formats, making it easier to inspect communication data during development and troubleshooting.
